Skin Allergies are tough to tackle and stressful on pets and their humans. The constant itching can cause a lot of stress and raise cortisol levels as well as create an opportunity for infection. There are many causes for skin allergies from foods to environment.  So if you have an itchy pup try adding some acupuncture to your schedule for added relief.

Related research finds that acupuncture “significantly reduced type I hypersensitivity itch in patients with AD (atopic dermatitis).” Acupuncture outperformed drug therapy for itch reduction. The study was carefully constructed with a double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled design. Acupuncture was compared with medication therapy and placebo controls plus non-treatment controls. Acupuncture and medications were significantly effective, however, acupuncture was more effective. Acupuncture achieved superior patient outcomes significantly greater than antihistamine consumption.

LI4 is on the medial side where the dew claw would be just hold on to it lightly for a bit or lightly move your fingers in a circular motion if he will tolerate that.  Li4 it is a great point for immune issues and allergies or allergic reactions and autoimmune.

 

LI11 in the outside or lateral crease of the elbow. Helps with skin issues due to heat in the blood. 

 ST 36 find the front of the knee and slide your finger down into the little groove on the lateral side of each knee  This point serves double duty it calms the mind and helps with anxiety and any kind of physical stress that  produce  anxiety . It is also a great immune point and supports the immune system in case it has been over stressed.

SP6  two finger widths  above the medial malleolus or ankle bone this point is on the bone so just follow it up twoish finger widths on the  inside of the back leg. This is a great point to increase blood flow and healing. It also reduces swelling and inflammation.

SP10 With knee flexed, 2 cun above the superior medial border of the patella just cranial to the sartorius muscle. Helps with skin problems from damp-heat or hot Blood  painful/hot sores.

LIV3 between the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal balances out thliver and helps with heat rising, and angst also a great point for detox.
