Spring is around the corner. The weather is warming up the days are getting longer and the flowers are starting to bloom.  Outdoor activites will be in full swing very soon.

This is great more time for you and your pup to enjoy the great outdoors….. unless you and your pup have allergies, then Springtime can be challenging.  Many pet parents give their pups human based allergy medicine to help alleviate some of these symptoms but, these meds can leave your dog groggy and disoriented.

According to the study below  adding acupuncture to your list of modalities may help to elimnate runny nose, and watery itchy eyes, as well as sneezing and itchy skin for you and your pet.  This may allow you to give your pups smaller doses of the human meds or possibly eliminating  them all together. (  check with your holistic vet first )

Acupuncture Or Drugs?
Acupuncture has been found equally effective as loratadine (Claritin®, Alavert®) for the treatment of  allergies. Researchers from the Clinic of Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital Dresden (Germany) conclude that acupuncture is effective for the treatment of allergy related rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis. The researchers document that acupuncture relieves symptoms of rhinitis including nasal congestion, runny nose, post-nasal drip and sneezing.  –
